Arriving on Campus

Housing, Meal Plan, and ID Card Services will communicate with new students regarding their move-in date and time. Students may view their move-in date and time in the housing portal through MySlice.

Arrival passes will be sent to all domestic students living in Shaw, Flint, and Day Halls because of traffic patterns that require more detailed instructions for those residents. Students living in any other building may proceed directly to their holding lines during their assigned move-in date and time and do not need an arrival pass.

To manage crowds and the flow of traffic on campus during move-in, new students and their families are often directed to holding lines (NOT to their new residence halls), which are managed by Parking and Transportation Services employees and Department of Public Safety officers.

GPS directions to holding lines, residence halls, and campus parking lots can be found here.

Commuter students may park in Comstock Avenue Garage, University Avenue Garage, all West Campus lots, Harrison lot, University Avenue North and South lots, Ostrom Avenue lot, Comstock Avenue lot, or the Colvin Avenue lot. For information about acquiring a parking pass for the entire academic year, please visit our commuter student page.

If you are arriving via train or taking a taxi from the airport, the William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center (RTC) is served by Amtrak, Greyhound, Trailways and Megabus. Centro buses (Syracuse city buses) run from the RTC to campus on a regular basis. Syracuse Hancock International Airport is located about 15 minutes away from campus. Outside the building, taxis and ride-sharing services are available.

Parking on Campus

At the residence hall, a driver should remain with the vehicle at all times until you are finished unloading. After you unload your belongings at your residence hall with the help of the friendly Goon Squad, the driver will be directed to a nearby lot or garage, where you are welcome to remain for the rest of your day on campus. Overnight parking is only permitted in the Colvin Street Lot at the John A. Lally Athletics Complex.

Free parking for families, commuters, and visitors is available on campus all week at the following locations: Comstock Avenue Garage, University Avenue Garage, all West Campus lots, Harrison lot, University Avenue North and South lots, Ostrom Avenue lot, Comstock Avenue lot, and Colvin Avenue lot.

Campus Shuttles

Throughout Welcome Week, free shuttles will circulate around campus. Schedules for the weekend will be posted on our campus shuttle schedule page.
