Q. Is it possible to have received a ticket without my knowledge?
A. Yes, this is possible for a variety of reasons. Check your account periodically. If you have a ticket that you were unaware of, please call our office at 315-443-4652.
Q. My violation does not seem valid or make sense to me. What should I do?
A. Call Parking and Transit Services at 315-443-4652 and explain the situation. We will look into any concerns and get back to you.
Q. What can I do if I have received a violation, and I don’t necessarily agree with the violation?
A. There is an appeals process in place to decide if the violation you received is valid.
You must make an appeal within a period of 14 days from the date of issuance. Appeals may be accomplished through MySlice at the Parking & Transit Services link (please allow 24 hours for tickets to appear on your account) or be made in writing to:
Syracuse University Parking & Transit Services
621 Skytop Road
Syracuse, NY 13244
After the 14-day period, the right to appeal expires and all violation charges and/or expenses incurred become automatically due.
Appeals will be reviewed and a decision rendered within two weeks of receipt.
Q. I have acquired another vehicle but have kept the same license plate. Is there something I need to do?
A. Yes, call our office at 315-443-4652 and our representatives will make the necessary changes in our system.
Q. Can a faculty or staff member list an additional vehicle to correspond to their permit; and then switch permits from one vehicle to the other, depending on which vehicle they are driving?
A. Yes, however, the permit can only be attached to one vehicle at a time. In other words, at any given time only one of the vehicles attached to your permit is allowed to park in the area designated by the permit.
Q. Can a resident student have more than one vehicle attached to their permit?
A. No. However, a student who commutes from off campus is allowed to have an additional vehicle attached to their permit. A PTS representative would be glad to help a commuter student list more vehicles on their permit account.
